It has been one year of living in the van now, and a few items have appeared on our list of things we simply cannot live without! Some of these products are handy for weekend worriers, others are more directed to full-time #vanlife. Either way, we suggest you check them out!
Coffee! This Mini Expresso Maker gets used everyday! It makes 4 shots, which is perfect for the two of us. And the coffee that comes out of it, is one of the best I have had. We cut it 50/50 with warmed up almond milk, and seek out locally roasted beans every time we run out.
The All-Terrain Bundle may seam like more of a luxury at first, but when you are a full-timer, paying for camp sites every night can gets expensive. The All-Terrain Bundle gives us two inches of lift and allows us to run large 27inch BFG KO2 tires. This gives us the ability to confidently get in and out of backroads and trails to skip the expensive camp ground fees, and in the long run, it pays itself off.
This setup is running non stop! Our fridge, laptop, camera batteries and other electronics are constantly charging on our Yeti 1250. It sits on the floor behind the passenger seat, low enough to clear so you can still rotate the chair. It also works as a great footrest. We use two Boulder 90 panels on a custom slider to charge the Yeti 1250. More details on our solar setup can be found here. NOTE: Boulder 90’s have been discontinued and replaced with Boulder 100.
Navigation and music. As soon as we are driving, the phone is in the GripTight. It holds it perfectly and has never fallen out, even on bumpy trails. The suction cup sticks tight to the glass to ensure we know where to go when we need it.
We carry our lives with us, and these plate steel bumpers help with that. We can fit a lot of gear on the back, thanks to the cleaver swing-away system that GoWesty makes. We carry our spare tire, tools (in the box), jerry can, and bikes on it. Without it we wouldn’t know where to put our bikes. Everything stays safe and secure back there and is secured by clamps at the top and bottom of the system. It is also easy to open up when you need into the back of the van.
We want to hear from you. What are the items you use the most in you van? What couldn’t you live without?
